EQUAL's Youth Leadership Committee Accepting Applications Join the Phoenix Leadership Team! Are you in middle or high school and want to get more involved with EQUAL? EQUAL's youth-led Phoenix Leadership Team is accepting new applications. The Team organizes events, keeps youth connected throughout Kansas City, receives leadership training and plays a critical role in strategizing for the future of EQUAL. EQUAL & UMKC's Q&A Launch New Support Group Young + Trans Gender Identity Meet Up The Young + Trans meetings will resume on September 23rd. Now that school has started back up we want to make sure as many people as possible can go. So have you been coming to the meetings? Have you wanted to come to the meetings but couldn't? EQUAL Becomes An Officially Recognized Missouri Nonprofit
On Sunday, March 21st, the EQUAL Board of Directors approved its Articles of Incorporation, taking the next big step in opening your LGBTQ youth center. Robin Carnahan, Missouri Secretary of State, approved our status on March 24th. Over the next several months, we will work to get our 501(c)(3) federal incorporation status.
EQUAL Appoints Inaugural Advisory Board On December 19th, the EQUAL Youth Center held its first board meeting, launching the official start of the Center. Currently 12 members are serving on the Advisory Board, including local students, social workers, activists and others.

The EQUAL Resource Guide Update: More than 2,300 people have downloaded the Resource Guide! Available for download now: your youth resource guide to the queer side of Kansas City. Whether you want to know about coming out, where to get STI testing, or what movies and books have queer youth characters, this guide has all of your answers. Written by a recent local college graduate and reviewed by high school students, you'll see that Kansas City has so many queer-friendly resources. Click here to download!
